I've been wanting to do my own take on a Harry Potter newborn shoot - there are so many elements to Harry Potter I wanted to create something magical. Props are a bit of an issue in the Uk, and so of course my go to incredibly talented felted prop maker loved my idea and created me something extremely special - PUDDY PAD DESIGNS, the only issue is the waiting for it to arrive from America. This young lady was my model for the day, so technically it's more a Harriet Potter! But we'll just make pretend it's Harry for now. This beautiful little baby was very unsettled on the day. I couldn't get her into the position I wanted and so I had to rethink slightly how I wanted to create this image. My inspiration was the enchanted dinner hall from Hogwarts with the magical night sky, I was going for floating candles but I feel they took away your eye being pulled to this gorgeous baby, and ultimately, an image should be about that gorgeous little face so I placed the candles on the floor. This shoot took about 12 hours to edit, as there were so many elements I pulled together to make it work, but I think I'm a little bit in love with this gorgeous image.

Although for the vast majority of my work I specialise in newborn photography. My other love is outdoor styled and themed sessions. I've had to admit defeat on the great outdoors many times, as beautifully dressed children don't always mix with British weather and mud! So I am not introducing beautifully styled sessions taken indoors with light and airy backdrops (like my new flower swing themed days). These are just so lovely. Glitter sessions are perfect if your child likes twirling, all things sparkly, blowing glitter and looking pretty. I've been building up my wardrobe and do have a range of dresses and headbands and halos. These sessions suit slightly older than toddler children. And are perfect as a different type of session as the children become involved in blowing glitter and feeling gold flakes land on them and making a mess - so even though the sessions are cute and sparkly. The sessions are studio based, and some of the glitter effects are added in afterwards alongside the careful and creative editing to make a beautiful and enchanting fine art collection to pick your images from.

 These sessions really are perfect for girls big and small or boys who love to sit blowing glitter and sparkles.

I'm really really excited to be offering these mini sessions now. As the prop is very large and heavy, the sessions will take place on set days. It was the only way to do this safely ensuring the swing was large and frame strong enough to take the weight of an adult.
The beauty of these sessions and I've discovered over the years about shoots outside, is that sometimes our English weather means the shoot has to be rearranged. I will be offering the odd outdoor sunset shoot throughout the year whilst weather permits, however I can offer all year round flower swing sessions. Beautifully styled, pretty flowers covering the swing. Fairy wings can be added in post production. I have a range of dresses from Monsoon, and special dresses made for photoshoots in sizes up to age 12, with a huge collection of halos and headpieces. A huge amount of work goes into editing the images to create beautiful fine art pieces of your stunning child.

My home studio is located in Great Cornard, approximately one mile from Sudbury, Suffolk.

Colchester, Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds are roughly 20-40 minutes away, with Newmarket, Cambridgeshire, Chelmsford and London all within a reasonable travelling distance. Liz Wood Photography is fully insured and all shoots are risk assessed to ensure child and newborn safety.

 This beautiful family came to visit me for a newborn photography session, sibling shots are always included and parent shots if required. I had been wanting to use this hat for ages. Most of my felted props come all the way now from America, even with the rubbish exchange rate at the moment, this lady can make anything! I often message her and run ideas past her, and she always comes up with something beyond my expectations! I obviously carry a fair amount of stock now bespoke and beautifully crafted creations, I can however have things made, if you would like something tailored for your shoot, let me know in plenty of time, as they take a little while to make and then travel across the Atlantic! This golden shelf caught my eye, I love gold at the moment, and I love ornate beautiful things, this French inspired shelf, perfectly matches the beautiful golden headband from Kittys Boutique. I love styling and theming shoots. These images are from just one newborn session. A huge amount of work goes into editing and artwork, I've recently moved my pricing structure to slightly cheaper for the first couple of packages, in a day when everyone wants digital, and having hard drives fail lots (I seriously back up in triplicate, and have cloud storage too to protect my client images), it frightens me that a usb or cd will corrupt. It literally can take one little power surge and all that work is gone, so I'm moving to ensure my clients have at least one professionally printed product. Print your images everyone! Children don't sit gazing at Facebook to see themselves and there is a chance those images could vanish one day. Nothing fills a child with more self worth and pride than seeing a cherished photo in a frame or in an album.

 The next two gorgeous sets came from FAIRY TALE PHOTOGRAPHY PROPS another local to me, prop maker, making exquisite hats, and layers with beautiful yarns, all ethically sourced. Some of the items I have can be traced back to the animals they kindly came from. Whilst people may class newborn photography as expensive, running a newborn business creates jobs for many other businesses too, and when families love a certain style, and look, you can't create some things from a pound bargain from China on ebay. The scary thing for me is seeing some of the animal cruelty from some Countries, and so it's important to me that my brand encompasses not only sweet and gentle newborn snuggles, and safety, but supports animal welfare, and other trades.

 This gorgeous merino layer is seriously so soft, Fairy tale props created this gorgeous set. Honestly purple and gold is just so stunning, and this gorgeous little girl she is just so divine. As you can see, a newborn session can be as simple as your taste or actually create a vibrant, beautiful, fine art gallery of stunning images.

 The amazing Puddy Pad Designs - link above made this stunning unicorn hat, I wasn't sure it would be popular but it is! This stunning floral wood effect backdrop is exclusive to PROPS FOR TOGS
 Baby was posed on the beanbag for this shot and photoshopped in. If a baby is ever in a prop, a hand is always in place at all times or hovering to ensure baby will not fall out.

I frequently have families travel from Cambridge and London, to my home studio. The vast majority of my clients come from Essex and Suffolk. I get booked up months in advance, so it's worth getting in touch early to ensure I can fit you in.

Magical Fairy Photoshoots in Suffolk and Essex - little Elves, Fairies and pixies.

Oh wow, this was a labour of love! I was a year in the planning and the set was created completely by me. Wonderful PROPS FOR TOGS printed up the backdrop design. I was not entirely sure if it would be popular, there are already fairy shoots in other studios in Suffolk, Essex and across the Country, so I wanted to put my own spin on them and make them unique to me. Even the little humpback bridge is handmade. I wasn't sure at first if it met my expectations but after the first mad rush of sessions, and editing the images, I fell in love with these styled and very pretty photoshoots. As you can see, it was also used for boys and families. I'm so happy with how they turned out.

The wings also were handmade by me and each set are unique, halos and crowns by my favourite KITTYS BOUTIQUE STYLED SESSION PROPS.

Even Shimmer the Unicorn made an appearance, honestly the children's faces were magical to behold. With the younger children if the wings were distracting to them. They were photoshopped in afterwards, it really did depend on the child. As you can see the boys loved the set too, we just didn't do wings.

I really think we all could do with a little bit more magic.

The set is quite big so all the fairy shoots have been shot at my home studio on the Suffolk and Essex border.

What really surprised me was the older children who really enjoyed the fairy experience too. I'm passionate about childhood being as magical as possible.
